The Production Design of this movie is top notch. That's not a bad thing, just an observation. The pure visuals of this film seem like a departure from Scorsese's typical "look". Whoever was the script supervisor on this film should reconsider their career path. It's that simple shit that really takes you out of the magic of the movie. A scene outside the Trump Tower, for example, features Leo getting out of the car. And I don't normally notice are care about that stuff. Other editing problems are just simple continuity issues. It had more endings than Lord of the Rings 3. What you see is what you get, and what I see is a movie thirty minutes too long. Few people have as much power as Martin Scorsese and in his world there are no "director's cuts". I wonder how the conversation went with the studio execs. The run time (at three hours) is the biggest problem. This movie is not without it's faults, however. I would love to see a Belfort/Azoff buddy comedy from Paramount for Christmas 2016. The dynamic between Leo and Jonah is fabulous.
He has the scenes you look forward to, and through him transforms DiCaprio into a comedic actor as well. What more can you ask for? With bleached white teeth, Jonah plays Donnie Azoff, Belfort's best friend. Jonah is proving he can keep up with the big boys in Hollywood, but this time around he doesn't lose that charm that made us love him in the first place. Perhaps too much of the cake (didn't he have a skinny phase?). She is quite the scene stealer, but doesn't take the cake on this film. Margot Robbie plays Jordan Belfort's (Leo) wife, Naomi. Matthew McConaughey has a much smaller role than the trailer's suggest, so don't expect any awards for this guy - at least not in this film (go see "Mud" and "Dallas Buyers Club" if you want to see some top notch McConaughey). Supporting cast (which is technically everyone else) is very strong. But he's got many years ahead of him, so don't feel too disappointed. meets Jack Dawson, with a touch of crazy think Howard Hughes and Teddy Daniels (only used IMDb for one of those!). This performance from Leo packs a lot of charm, think Frank Abagnale Jr. A nomination is likely, but even that is an extremely tough task this year. But he won't win the Oscar, and he doesn't deserve it this year, either (hello Chiwetel Ejiofor).

This "based on a true story" film is Martin Scorsese's funniest movie since Taxi Driver (that's the one with Jimmy Fallon, right?). Only this time, it's not a tale about a homeless boy living in a train station or a bunch of mafiosas eating lasagna. Scorsese is back, kicking ass and taking names.
